REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 9, 1984
<br />WHEREAS, a Declaratory Resolution designating the area commonly known as U.S. 31
<br />and Brick Rd., South Bend, Indiana, and more particularly described by a line drawn
<br />as follows:
<br />A part of the southeast 1/4 of the Northwest 1/4 of Section 19, Township 38
<br />North, Range 2 East of the 2nd Principal Meridian, German Township, City of
<br />South :Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana more particularly described as follows:
<br />Beginning at the intersection'of the East line of the Northwest 1/4 of said
<br />Section 19 with the North right -of -way line of the Indiana East -West Toll Road a
<br />centerline survey of which is recorded in Plat Book 19A, Pages 1 -22 inclusive,
<br />in the office of the St. Joseph County Recorder: Thence North 000 54' 38" West
<br />along said East line of the Northwest 1/4 of said Section, 450.00 feet: thence
<br />South 890 43' 00" West parallel with the North right -of -way line of the Indiana
<br />East-West Toll Road, 500.00 feet; thence South 000 54' 38" East parallel with
<br />the East line of the Northwest 1/4 of said Section, 450.00 to the North right -
<br />of -way line of the Indiana East-West Toll Road; thence North 890 43' 00" East
<br />along said North right -of -way line 500.00 feet to the point of beginning and
<br />containing 5.16959 acres, more or less.
<br />as an Economic Revitalization Area; and,
<br />WHEREAS, notice of the adoption of a Declaratory Resolution and the public hearing
<br />before the Council has been published pursuant to Indiana Code 6 -1.1- 12.1 -2 -5; and
<br />WHEREAS, the Council held a public hearing for the purposes of hearing all remonstrances
<br />and objections from interested persons; and
<br />WHEREAS, the Council has determine that the qualifications for an economic revitalizatio
<br />area have been met.
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend,
<br />Indiana, as follows:
<br />ORDINANCE NO. 7287 -84 AN ORDINANCE TO VACATE THE FOLLOWING DESCRIBED PROPERTY.
<br />THE EAST -WEST ALLEY IN THE HALF BLOCK BOUNDED BY SOUTH BEND
<br />AVENUE ON THE NORTH, CEDAR STREET ON THE SOUTH, ST. LOUIS
<br />STREET ON THE EAST AND THE NORTH -SOUTH ALLEY APPROXIMATELY
<br />HALF WAY BETWEEN SOUTH BEND AVENUE AND CEDAR STREET ON THE
<br />WEST, ALL LOCATED IN BULLA'S ADDITION TO THE TOWN OF LOWELL,
<br />NOW A PART OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, IN ST. JOSEPH COUNTY,
<br />INDIANA.
<br />This bill had second reading. Council Member Serge made a motion to amend this bill,
<br />as amended in the Committee of the Whole, seconded by.Council Member Taylor. The
<br />motion carried. Council Member Taylor made a motion to pass this bill, as amended,
<br />seconded by Council Member Serge. The bill passed by a roll call vote of nine Oyes.
<br />ORDINANCE NO. 7288 -83 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AMENDING
<br />AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE AND S ALE OF
<br />ORDINANCE N�. 7230-83
<br />i BONDS OF SAID CITY IN ORDER TO PROVIDE FUNDS FOR PAYMENT OF
<br />JUDGMENTS AGAINST THE CITY.

<br />seconded by Council Member Taylor. The bill passed by a roll call vote of nine ayes.
<br />ORDINANCE NO. 7289 -83 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AMENDING
<br />ORDINANCE NO. 7231 -83 AND APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF ONE HUNDRED
<br />SEVENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($170,000.00) FOR PAYMENT OF JUDGMENTS
<br />AGAINST THE CITY.
<br />This bill had second reading. Council Member Serge made a motion to pass this bill,
<br />seconded by Council Member Taylor. The bill passed by a roll call vote of nine ayes.

<br />WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend has adopted a Declaratory

<br />Resolution designating certain areas within the City as Economic Revitalization Areas
<br />for the purpose of tax abatement consideration; and
