f <br />�F <br />REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 9, 1984 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend met in the Council <br />Chambers of the County -City Building on Monday, January 9, 1984, at 7:00 P.M. The <br />meeting was called to order and the Pledge to the Flag was given. <br />ROLL CALL Present: Council Members Serge, Braboy, Puzzello, Taylor, <br />Zakrzewski, Crone, Paszek, Voorde and Beck <br />Absent: None <br />REPORT FROM THE SUB - COMMITTEE ON MINUTES <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />Your sub - committee on the inspection and supervision of the minutes would res- <br />pectfully report that it has inspected the minutes of the December 27, December 30, <br />1983, and January 2, 1984, meetings of the Council and found them correct. <br />The sub - committee, therefore, recommends that the same be approved. <br />/s/ Beverlie J. Beck <br />s/ Thomas Zakrzewski <br />s /Ann Puzzello <br />Council Member Serge made a motion that the minutes of the December 27, December 30, <br />and January 21 meetings of the Council be accepted and placed on file, seconded by <br />Council Member Taylor. The motion carried. <br />SPECIAL BUSINESS <br />Council Member Taylor made a motion to appoint Kathleen Cekanski- Farrand as Council <br />attorney, seconded by Council Member Zakrzewski. The motion carried. <br />Council Member Serge made a motion to rescind the recommendation of John Voorde as <br />representative to the Business Development Corporation, seconded by Council Member <br />Taylor. Council Member Crone questioned the wisdom of this rescind motion and asked <br />that both names be recommended to the Business Development Corporation. The rescind <br />motion carried. Council Member Puzzello made a motion to recommend Al Paszak to the <br />Business Development Corportion, seconded by Council Member Taylor. The motion carried. <br />Glenda Rae Hernandez was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Bruce Gobdell on the <br />Human Rights Commission. <br />Council Member Taylor made a motion to appoint Council Member Voorde as Council's <br />representative to MACOG, seconded by Council Member Zakrzewski. The motion carried. <br />Council President Beck asked for citizen members to participate as non - voting members <br />of Council committees. <br />REPORTS <br />Council Member Voorde indicated that the Zoning and Vacation Committee and had met <br />and recommended bill nos. 133 and 134 favorable. He indicated Bill No. 134 -83 would <br />be amended. <br />Council Member Puzzello indicated that the Personnel and Finance Committee had met <br />and recommended bill nos. 139 and 140 favorable. <br />Council Member Taylor made a motion to accept the minutes of the South Bend Energy <br />Commission, seconded by Council Member Puzzello. The motion carried. <br />Council Member Taylor made a motion to resolve into the Committee of the Whole, seconded <br />by Council Member Crone. The motion carried. <br />COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend met in the Committee <br />of the Whole on Monday, January 9, 1983, at 7:11 p.m., with nine members present. <br />Chairman Serge presiding. <br />Council Member Taylor made a motion to combine public hearing on bill <br />nos. 133 and 134 -83, seconded by Council Member Beck.
