Any officer in training shall remain in that status until <br />satisfactory completion of the mandatory law enforcement training <br />program. <br />The first service year for a police officer commences upon his <br />being sworn in as a police officer. The police officer shall obtain <br />his second service year on the next succeeding first day of January <br />until he attains the maximum salary for the particular rank he may <br />hold. <br />SECTION II. In addition to the foregoing annual pay, the <br />officers and members of the Police Department shall receive com- <br />pensation for extra duty and special performance and the following <br />benefits: <br />(a) Effective January 1, 1980, if an officer is subpoenaed to <br />court or has to go to court or is required to appear at any given <br />location to validate a complaint, warrant or recall, the officer <br />shall be paid (if off duty) at the rate of time and one -half the <br />officer's hourly rate of pay with minimum of two hours on the <br />officer's regularly scheduled work day and four hours on the officer's <br />regularly scheduled day off. In addition, any officers required to <br />work overtime shall be paid at the rate of one and a half times the <br />officer's normal rate of pay with a minimum of one hour for any <br />overtime beyond said officer's normal work day schedule. <br />(b). Any officers shall be entitled to receive $31.00 for each <br />of the holidays listed below, whether such holiday is worked or not. <br />Payment shall be made for each holiday during the pay period to which <br />the holiday falls; however, no holiday shall be paid in advance of <br />its occurrence. The holiday pay shall apply only to the following: <br />New Year's Day Fourth of July <br />Lincoln's Birthday Labor Day <br />Washington's Birthday Columbus Day <br />Good Friday Veteran's Day <br />Easter Sunday Thanksgiving Day <br />Memorial Day Christmas Day <br />(c) For night incentive and hazard pay, $300.00 per year. <br />SECTION III. Clothing Allowance. (a) The Common Council <br />recommends that with the exception of Chief, Division Chiefs and <br />Captains, the sworn members of the Police Department receive an <br />annual clothing allowance of $500.00. <br />(b) The Common Council recommends that the annual clothing <br />allowance for those individuals holding the rank of Chief, Division <br />Chief or Captain be in the amount of $375.00. <br />(c) Such clothing allowance shall be distributed one -half by <br />June 15, 1980, and the remaining one -half by December 15, 1980. <br />SECTION IV. The Common Council recommends that the advancement <br />of rank from Patrolman First Class to Corporal be after three complete <br />years upon satisfactory performance of duty and promotion by the <br />Board of Safety. <br />SECTION V.
