ORDINANCE NO.6 G Cog'-7j <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 6615 -79, <br />COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND'S <br />SALARY ORDINANCE, WHICH FIXED MAXIMUM SALARIES <br />AND WAGES OF APPOINTED OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, FOR THE <br />YEAR OF 1980. <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: <br />The Common Council recognizes that the increasing and more <br />complex demands placed on city government require certain changes <br />in operations and jobs.which will promote the more efficient and <br />more effective delivery of public services. The task of continuing <br />to provide basic services in the face of rising cost requires close <br />scrutiny of the manner in which we provide such services and the <br />courage to change whenever that is necessary. This is an important <br />part of the challenge facing the Council and the Mayor in the 19801s. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City <br />of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I. The City of South Bend's 1980 Salary Ordinance is <br />hereby amended in the following manner: <br />PRESENT ANNUAL <br />POSITION SALARY PROPOSED <br />II. Department of Law <br />City Attorney $15,157.00 $27,730.00 <br />Safety Board <br />Assistant - - - -- $24,000.00 <br />IX. General Classification <br />Mayor's Secretary $12,071.00 - - - -- <br />Manager, Secretarial <br />and Clerical Services - - -- $16,000.00 <br />SECTION II.
