PARENT Fourth District Re: Amendments to the 80 Salary Ordinance ROBERT G. TAYLOR Fifth District In order to improve the City operations in three W S T T. KOPCZYNSKI general areas and to be prepared for the challenges MARY CHRISTINE ADAMS and opportunities that the 1980s will bring t0 local At Large government, I am asking the City Council to take the RICHARD C. DOMBROWSKI At following actions: (1) Establish the position of a Large FRANK HORVATH Safety Board Assistant; (2) Replace the Mayor's Secretary At Large position with that of a Manager of Sec - retarial and Clerical Services; (3) Change the City Attorney's present position from part -time to full - time. I am asking the City Council to act on these revisions now, rather than in 1980, to facilitate the transition from the present administration to the new administra- tion. Early action on these proposed requests will enable me to begin the search for experienced and competent personnel to fill these positions. It is my hope that the Council will approve the pro- posed amendments to the 1980 Salary Ordinance at the December 3, 1979, Council meeting. Should the Council act favorably on these amendments, I will submit a bill to appropriate the necessary funds for the re- vised positions on December 17, 1979. Final Council action cannot take place on the bill before 1980, since amendment of the 1980 budget cannot occur until 1980. In order to allow full and adquate consideration of my requests, I am submitting the following information:
