Skillman has worked with many different organizations to upgrade and adapt their facilities to better serve the needs of the
communities they serve. We understand the specific needs of occupied park facility projects — specifically with managing safety
during construction — and provide cost-effective solutions to make sure they are met.
City administration members trust us with their reputation of being a good community leader. Knowing there will be staff members
and pool visitors on site during portions of the construction phase, it will be our responsibility to retain safety and security for all.
We know every project has specific safety needs dependent upon the setting, site restrictions, and the Owner's operational
considerations, so we develop a detailed safety plan around the logistical requirements of your project. This practice ensures
that we will isolate construction activity away from the general public and minimize interruptions to park staff and patrons.
All safety plans take into consideration site traffic, mobilization, deliveries, seismic and noise restrictions. This is a safety program we
have improved upon over the last 53+ years with input from contractors, outside safety consultants, owners, and from our personnel.
Your Skillman construction team members are experts in commercial construction and can anticipate potential problems before they
happen. Maintaining a safe and secure project requires comprehensive planning before construction begins and constant monitoring
through construction.
Steps in the Skillman process include:
• Before construction begins, detailed logistics planning to ensure construction areas are partitioned or fenced from occupied
areas.
• Site access and traffic control planned in detail.
• All construction personnel required to have criminal background checks and wear identification tags as verification.
• Your Skillman Site Manager, Terry Allsop, will meet regularly with park administration to coordinate activities and is accessible
at all times to respond immediately to issues.
• Safety is an agenda item at every construction progress meeting.
Asbestos & Lead Paint
Prior to beginning demolition operations, we will obtain from the City a site survey identifying the locations of asbestos and lead
containing materials. If the City is unable to provide this information, a testing agency will be employed that can identify and/or
verify areas suspected of containing these materials prior to their disturbance during the demolition operation.
Noise
We will manage start times consistent with the city/county's restrictions and ordinances and will do our best to minimize excessive
noise activities while the existing pool is still operational.
Jobsite Policies, Background Checks, & Drug Screens
As the industry has evolved so has our safety program. Our program requires partners with local agencies who provide detailed
checks and testing programs for all construction workers on our projects. Implementing our award -winning safety program involves a
detailed identification program that allows us to track every worker that comes on to our job sites daily.
Every construction worker on the jobsite is identified with an identification badge and required to have a criminal
background check, checks through the Indiana and Federal Sex Offender Registry, and an updated 5-50 drug screen.
THE SKILLMAN CORPORATION I KENNEDY PARK RENOVATIONS I PROPOSAL FOR CM/C SERVICES 18
