REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 22, 2025 155 <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS — SPEC C — <br />SEVEN (7) MORE OR LESS 2025 OR NEWER 3/4 TON FOUR WHEEL DRIVE PICK UP <br />TRUCKS- (PR-00042013, PR-00042010, PR-00042011, PR-00042012, PR-00042014) <br />In a memorandum to the Board, Adam Cole, Central Services, requested permission to advertise <br />for the receipt of bids for the above referenced project. Therefore, upon a motion made by VP <br />Molnar, seconded by Mr. Miller and carried by roll call, the above request was approved. <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS AND TITLE <br />SHEET — MAYFLOWER RD. TO STATE LINE RECONSTRUCTION — PROJECT NO. 125- <br />037 (PR-0004140) <br />In a memorandum to the Board, Dan Jones, Engineering, requested permission to advertise for the <br />receipt of bids for the above referenced project. Also presented at this time for approval and <br />execution was the title sheet. Upon a motion made by VP Molnar, seconded by Mr. Miller and <br />carried by roll call, the above request to advertise was approved, and the title sheet was approved <br />and signed. <br />ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 18-2025 — A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS APPROVING THE DONATION OF POLICE <br />EQUIPMENT <br />Upon a motion made by VP Molnar, seconded by Mr. Miller and carried by roll call, the following <br />resolution was adopted by the Board of Public Works: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 18-2025 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTH BEND INDIANA BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />APPROVING THE DONATION OF POLICE EQUIPMENT <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend Board of Public Works (the "Works Board") exists <br />and operates pursuant to Ind. Code 36-8-3 and South Bend Municipal Code § 2-50; and <br />WHEREAS, the Works Board has exclusive control over all matters and property relating <br />to the South Bend Police Department (the "SBPD") pursuant to Ind. Code § 36-8-3-2(b)(2); and <br />WHEREAS, the SBPD possesses certain property, namely: used Seven (7) Alco-Sensor <br />III Portable Breath Tests (PBTs) which have been retired from service and deemed surplus <br />property pursuant to Ind. Code § 5-22-22-12; and <br />WHEREAS, Sgt. Aaron M. Knepper, a City of South Bend employee, has made known to <br />the SBPD the significant need for police and emergency services equipment for use by a smaller <br />person for the provision of emergency services; and <br />WHEREAS, the SBPD wishes to gift, under the supervision of and with the assistance of <br />the Memorial Hospital Police Department, (the "Donees") all of which service areas located in the <br />City of South Bend; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Ind. Code § 5-22-22-12(e), a governmental body may transfer title <br />of surplus property to a police department by sale, gift, or another arrangement acceptable to the <br />governmental body and the police department. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND BOARD <br />OF PUBLIC WORKS AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. The Safety Board hereby approves the donation and transfer of the seven (7) Alco- <br />Sensor III PBTs from the SBPD to (the "Donees"), and authorizes staff of the SBPD to work with <br />Memorial Hospital Police Department carry out any and all actions necessary to facilitate the <br />transfer. <br />2. This Resolution will be in full force and effect upon its adoption by the Board of <br />Public Works. <br />ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City of South Bend Board of Public Works held <br />on July 22nd, 2025. <br />
