a. Exploration: Split -spoon samples, collected in accordance with ASTM D-1586
methodology, will be obtained at 2.5-ft intervals in the upper 10-ft and at 5-ft intervals
thereafter.
b. Groundwater: Groundwater measurements will be obtained during and after
completion of our drilling program.
c. Backji'lling or Boreholes: Following completion of the drilling activities, the borings
will be backfilled with soil cuttings
3. PUBLIC UTILITY LOCATE: GME Testing will contact public utility entity to notify
public utility members of the area to be marked.
4. PRIVATE UTILITIES: It is our experience that public utility companies do not mark the
locations of privately -owned utilities. This proposal is based on private utility lines (if
present on site) and other subsurface appurtenances are located in the field by others prior
to field activities. GME Testing will exercise reasonable caution to avoid damages to
underground utilities by contacting local utility companies prior to the field activities.
However, private utility locations are often unknown by public utility companies and
should be confirmed by the utility owners (if present on site).
5. LABORATORY TESTING: Samples recovered from the split -spoon sampler will be
sealed in clean, airtight glass jars, labeled, and transported to our laboratory for further
classification and testing. This will include but not limited to grain size, Atterberg limits,
infiltration testing, moisture content, unconfined compressive strength, organic content,
and soil classifications according to ASTM D-2487, ASTM D-4318, ASTM D421, etc.
6. ANALYSIS AND PRESENTATION: The results of our field exploration and laboratory
tests will be used in the engineering analysis and in the preparation of the
recommendations for watermain installation and underground stormwater detention
design parameter recommendations. The exploration results, conclusions, and
recommendations will be presented in a formal written report for use by civil and design
engineers in preparing the site and project plans.
A1.05 50% Preliminary Design Plans
A. Engineer shall:
1. Design for resurfacing of Lathrop St, from Bendix Dr to Portage Ave. from the curb return.
This design will consist existing two HMA lanes, one in each direction, three (3) concrete
speed humps, and site restoration.
2. Design a new 12" wrapped ductile iron water main from Bendix Dr to Portage Ave, which
will replace the existing 6" water main. The proposed 12" water main will be installed near
the south right-of-way and will include tying in the existing 6" water mains along Olive St
and Johnson St. The existing 6" water main running along Lathrop St will be plugged and
abandoned.
3. Perform or provide the following 50% Preliminary Design Phase tasks or deliverables:
Page 4
(Exhibit A — Engineer's Services)
EJCDC E-500 Agreement Between Owner and Engineer for Professional Services
Copyright © 2008 National Society of Professional Engineers for EJCDC.
