PARENT, Mayor <br />COUNTY -CITY BUILDING SOUTH BEND, INDIANA 46601 <br />April 8, 1980 <br />Members of the Common Council <br />441 County /City Building <br />South Bend, IN 46601 <br />Dear Council Members: <br />(219) 284 -9251 <br />Attached you will find an ordinance requesting $25,000.00 from the <br />Local Road and Street Fund for Project 8001, Edison Road from State <br />Road 23 to Ironwood. <br />As you are well aware, this section of roadway is very narrow and is <br />presently the only undeveloped roadway on Edison. Because of its <br />present width, this roadway not only causes us a problem during high <br />traffic events centered around the University of Notre Dame, but also <br />during the morning and evening rush hour that is experienced on a <br />daily basis. The purpose of this appropriation is to fund the engineer- <br />ing work necessary to design a four -lane roadway, together with the <br />necessary traffic controls and channelization at Edison Road's inter- <br />section with State Road 23. <br />Should you have any questions in regard to this project, please con- <br />tact me at your earliest convenience. <br />Ver u your , <br />Patrick M.
