Mechanical Inspector. <br /> The Building Commissioner shall appoint a Mechanical Inspector, who shall have at <br /> least five(5) years' experience in heating, air conditioning and ventilating installation, <br /> maintenance, alteration, or repair. In addition, the Inspector shall have a thorough <br /> knowledge of the Indiana Mechanical Code and of approved materials and methods of <br /> heating, air conditioning, and ventilating installation, maintenance, alterations, and repair <br /> necessary for safety to persons and property. <br /> (Ord. No. 8243-92, § 1) <br /> Sec. 6-36.1. Heating, Air Conditioning and Ventilating Contractor Approvals. <br /> (a) The Mechanical Inspector and/or the Building Official (hereinafter the Examiner") shall <br /> examine applicants for registrations under this article, issue certificates therefor to qualified <br /> applicants who have paid the prescribed fees and who have passed the examination <br /> hereinafter required, and revoke or suspend any registration after just cause shown, as set <br /> forth in Section 6-6.10.. <br /> (b) The Examiner shall examine applicants for registrations as they are received <br /> (c) The Department shall keep a record of all registrations and certificates and may adopt rules <br /> and regulations for the conduct of examinations and review of registrations. <br /> (d) No new registration under this article shall be issued without approval of the Examiner. <br /> (Ord. No. 8243-92, § 1; Ord. No. 8566-94, § 3; Ord. No. 9126-00, § 7) <br /> Sec. 6-36.2. Heating, air conditioning and ventilating registrations. <br /> (a) Required. No person shall perform or cause to be performed within the City any installation, <br /> maintenance, alteration or repair of any heating, air conditioning or ventilating equipment or <br /> system without obtaining, in advance, a registration from the Building Department. <br /> (1) Heating, air conditioning and ventilating contrac'or's registration. A heating, air <br /> conditioning and ventilating contrac'or's registration may be issued to a person who is <br /> principally engaged in the business of heating, air conditioning or ventilating <br /> contracting. This registration entitles the holder and his/her employees to perform <br /> heating, air conditioning and ventilating contracting work and to sell approved heating, <br /> air conditioning and ventilating apparatus and devices. <br /> (b) Application. Each applicant shall apply in writing for a registration at least thirty (30) days <br /> before the next scheduled examination date. The application shall include: <br /> (1) The name of applicant. <br /> (2) The name and address of applicant's place of business. <br /> (3) Each applicant for a registration must also furnish letter(s) from former employer(s), a <br /> union, or self-employment documentation to show that the applicant has had not less <br /> than four(4) years' or equivalent experience in the installation, repair and maintenance <br /> of heating, air conditioning, and ventilating equipment or systems. <br /> (4) Evidence of the applicant's age being at least twenty-one(21) years. <br /> (5) An official statement from a law enforcement agency of whether or not the applicant <br /> has ever been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony, and if so, the crimes convicted of <br /> and the dates and places of such convictions. <br /> Page 26 of 31 <br />
