The first service year for a police officer commences <br />upon his being sworn in as a police officer. The police officer <br />shall obtain his second service year on the next succeeding first <br />day of January until he attains the maximum salary for the particular <br />rank he may hold. <br />SECTION II: In addition to the foregoing annual pay, the officers <br />and members of the Police Department shall receive compensation for <br />extra duty and specific performance and the following benefits: <br />(a) Effective January 1, 1981, if an officer is subpoenaed <br />to court or has to go to court or is required to appear at any given <br />location to validate a complaint, warrant or recall, the officer <br />shall be paid (if off duty) at the rate of time and one -half the <br />officer's hourly rate of pay with minimum of two hours on the officer's <br />regularly scheduled work day and four hours on the officer's regularly <br />scheduled day off. In addition, any officers required to work overtime <br />shall be paid at the rate of one and a half times the officer's normal <br />rate of pay with a minimum of one hour for any overtime beyond said <br />officer's normal work day schedule. <br />(b) Any officers shall be entitled to receive $31.00 for <br />each of the holidays listed below, whether such holiday is worked <br />or not. Payment shall be made for each holiday during the pay period <br />to which the holiday falls; however, no holiday shall be paid in advance <br />of its occurrence. The holiday pay shall apply only to the following: <br />New Year's Day Fourth of July <br />Lincoln's Birthday Labor Day <br />Washington's Birthday Columbus Day <br />Good Friday Veteran's Day <br />Easter Sunday Thanksgiving Day <br />Memorial Day Christmas Day <br />(c) For night incentive and hazard pay, $300.00 per year. <br />SECTION III: <br />The Common Council recommends as follows: <br />(a) The sworn members of the Police Department shall receive <br />an annual clothing allowance of $500.00. Such clothing allowance shall <br />be distributed one -half by June 15, 1981, and the remaining one -half <br />by December 15, 1981. <br />(b) That the annual clothing allowance for those individuals <br />holding the rank of Chief, Division Chief or Captain be in the amount <br />of $375.00; and be distributed one -half by June 15, 1981, and the <br />remaining one -half by December 15, 1981. <br />(c) That the advancement of rank from Patrolman First Class <br />to Corporal be after three complete years upon satisfactory performance <br />of duty and promotion by the Board of Safety. <br />(d) That a maximum of $302.00 be paid for each officer requesting <br />Dependent Health Insurance coverage over and above what the City is <br />presently paying, excluding Chief, Division Chief and Captains. <br />(e) That officers working under the Overtime Foot Patrol Program <br />be paid at the rate of $7.50 per hour.
