ORDINANCE NO. 6812 -80 AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE ANNUAL PAY OF POLICE OFFICERS FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 1981 STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT The Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, recognizes that Indiana Code Section 18- 1 -11 -2 specifically authorizes the Common Council to set salaries for the Police Department. The Council further recognizes that its Wage Committee and the Police Officers' Wage Committee are continuing to negotiate the final provisions of this Bill which will amount to a total expenditure of approximately $383,000.00 for the 1981 calendar year. The Council will continue to carefully weigh the needs and benefits of our entire community when setting the final dollar amounts to be distributed. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows: SECTION I.: (a) The Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, recognizes the Wage Committee of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge No. 36, as the sole bargaining unit for the annual salaries and fringe benefits for members of the South Bend Police Department. (b) The Council further recognizes and designates the Police Chief, Division Chiefs and Captains as the management members of the department. (c) The annual pay for the officers and sworn members of the Police Department of the City of South Bend for the 1981 calendar year, by rank, classification, and service years, shall be as follows: Police Chief . . . . . . . . . .
