BILL NO. <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $14,000.00 FROM THE <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUND FOR THE <br />SUPPORT OF A NEIGHBORHOOD CLEAN -UP CREW TO BE <br />ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH <br />ITS DIVISION OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND MAYOR'S <br />ENVIRONMENTAL/ACTION CENTER. <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: <br />The government of the City of South Bend, in partnership with the City's <br />private sector and residents, is committed to the goal of improving the "quality <br />of life" in the City, its neighborhoods, and for its residents. As part of this <br />commitment to a comprehensive community development and improvement program, the <br />City of South Bend through its Division of Community Development has applied for <br />and received the approval of the 'United States Department of Housing and Urban <br />Development to expend $3,881,000..00 in the execution of certain public works, <br />park improvement, housing, code enforcement /demolition, and public service <br />project activities. Funds are required by the Division of Community Development <br />for the support of a two member Neighborhood Clean -Up Crew to clean publicly and <br />privately -owned properties in Community Development Neighborhood Strategy Areas <br />as part of Community Development's overall neighborhood improvement strategy. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South <br />Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I. The sum of $14,000.0o is hereby appropriated for the program <br />year starting July 5, 1979 from the Community Block Grant Fund (Program Year <br />1979.) This appropriation is to be administered by the Division of Community <br />Development and Mayor's Environmental /Action Center, as set forth below: <br />PROGRAM CD -79 -205 <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM <br />Purpose Amount <br />Two Member Community Development <br />Neighborhood Clean -Up Crew $ 14,000.00 <br />TOTAL: <br />$ 14,000.00 <br />SECTION II.
