Correspondence will be initiated with the utilities identified in the survey in an effort to <br />verify their location and identify potential conflicts or solutions. <br />3. Coordinate with utility companies on relocation of facilities. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />E. Project Design: <br />1. Prepare plans and project specifications and bid documents for the construction of a <br />bike trail along Madison Street from the existing East Bank Trail to the Link Trail at Hill <br />Street. Use the previously developed 10% plans for Madison Street and revise per <br />scoping meeting discussions and prepare final plans. Elements of the project are <br />expected to include: <br />a.) Transition from the existing trail on the west end of Madison Street and the new <br />bike path <br />b.) Beginning on the west end of Madison Street, approximately 120 feet of new trail <br />will be constructed on the south side of the existing road. The remainder of the <br />block west of Niles Avenue will include converting the existing concrete parking on <br />the south side of the road. A new 3 foot wide concrete center curb will be installed <br />to separate vehicular traffic from bicycle traffic. The existing road will be restriped <br />to accommodate the new travel lanes. <br />c.) A new bump out will be constructed at the intersection of Madison Street and <br />Niles Avenue. The trail will transition across the intersection to the south side of the <br />bump out. <br />d.) Between Niles Avenue and Hill Street, the existing sidewalk will be widened to the <br />south. <br />e.) Existing drainage will be reviewed and minor modifications to direct storm water to <br />the existing system are expected. <br />f.) Existing light poles will be removed and new poles and wiring installed. New <br />lighting will match the poles along Hill Street <br />g.) Develop landscaping plan to install new trees where practical <br />2. Plan Development <br />a. Submit 30% Plans and Construction Cost Estimate for review <br />b. Submit 60% Plans, Specifications and Construction Cost Estimate for review <br />c. Submit 90% Plans and Bid Documents and Construction Cost Estimate for review <br />d. Submit Final Plans and Bid Documents for bidding purposes
