ORDINANCE NO. _Q <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />AMENDING VARIOUS SECTIONS OF CHAPTER <br />17, ARTICLE 7, COMMONLY KNOWN AS <br />SEWER SERVICE FUND AND CHARGES <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT <br />On September 15, 1980, the South Bend Common Council <br />passed Ordinance No. 6830 -80 which revised an earlier law which <br />established a sewer service fund. <br />At the time of passage, the Council made a commitment to <br />the people that the charges incorporated into the law would be <br />reviewed within a year. <br />The Council therefore is introducing the following Bill <br />to amend the monthly sewer service charge from 7V per month to <br />25� per month, and amending the monthly report required from <br />the Board of Wastewater Commissioners to a quarterly report. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of <br />the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I. Chapter 17, Article 7, Section 17 -56 (a) of <br />the Municipal Code of the City of South Bend, Indiana, is hereby <br />amended to read as follows: <br />(a) The sum of twenty -five <br />cents (2V) per month shall be added to sewer <br />service charges for all sewer users which are <br />not industrial or bulk water customers. All of <br />said sums of money so collected shall be deposited <br />in a separate fund of the Bureau of Sewers. <br />SECTION II. Chapter 17, Article 7, Section 17 -64(c) <br />of the Municipal Code of the City of South Bend, Indiana, is <br />hereby amended as follows: <br />(c) In addition to the bi- annual report, the Board <br />of Wastewater Commissioners shall file a- mesthly- <br />quarterly report with the Council's Utility <br />Committee detailing the following: <br />(1) Name of property owner and location <br />of sewer repair (designated by the <br />common address of the property). <br />(2) Name of contractor who performed the <br />sewer repair. <br />(3) The amount of sewer repair with an <br />attached detailed claim. <br />SECTION III.
