ORDINANCE NO. _Q AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AMENDING VARIOUS SECTIONS OF CHAPTER 17, ARTICLE 7, COMMONLY KNOWN AS SEWER SERVICE FUND AND CHARGES STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT On September 15, 1980, the South Bend Common Council passed Ordinance No. 6830 -80 which revised an earlier law which established a sewer service fund. At the time of passage, the Council made a commitment to the people that the charges incorporated into the law would be reviewed within a year. The Council therefore is introducing the following Bill to amend the monthly sewer service charge from 7V per month to 25� per month, and amending the monthly report required from the Board of Wastewater Commissioners to a quarterly report. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: SECTION I. Chapter 17, Article 7, Section 17 -56 (a) of the Municipal Code of the City of South Bend, Indiana, is hereby amended to read as follows: (a) The sum of twenty -five cents (2V) per month shall be added to sewer service charges for all sewer users which are not industrial or bulk water customers. All of said sums of money so collected shall be deposited in a separate fund of the Bureau of Sewers. SECTION II. Chapter 17, Article 7, Section 17 -64(c) of the Municipal Code of the City of South Bend, Indiana, is hereby amended as follows: (c) In addition to the bi- annual report, the Board of Wastewater Commissioners shall file a- mesthly- quarterly report with the Council's Utility Committee detailing the following: (1) Name of property owner and location of sewer repair (designated by the common address of the property). (2) Name of contractor who performed the sewer repair. (3) The amount of sewer repair with an attached detailed claim. SECTION III. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect November 1, 1981, and after its passage by the common Council, approved by the Mayor, and fulfillment of all statutory requirements.
