Southeast Quality of Life <br />Strategic Neighborhood Action Plan <br />i. Street network improvements and intersection improvements, <br />including speed bumps on either side of walkways and certain other <br />blocks where driving is dangerous (Milton, etc.); <br />j. Limited access around and to park; close Fellows; <br />k. Additional four way stop signs (Carroll and Indiana, etc.) to slow <br />traffic on long cross streets; <br />I. Truck and parking restrictions, including parking on one side of street <br />only on certain streets (High, Milton, etc.); <br />M. Entries into the neighborhood that would help to define and defend <br />the neighborhood from unwelcome or unnecessary intrusion. <br />n. Additional street lights throughout the neighborhood, with higher <br />density in targeted areas. <br />2. SEQL petitions County -City Zoning Board for modification of the Zoning <br />map and text to limit the land uses within the neighborhood to <br />predominately single family residential area with neighborhood oriented <br />retail/commercial corridors. <br />a. Petition to rezone the neighborhood from Residential B to Residential <br />A from the alley south of Pennsylvania Avenue. Modify zoning text, <br />where necessary, inhibit the continued conversion of homes from <br />single family to multi -family uses, <br />b. SEQL files formal objections and actively works against use variance <br />requests and rezoning which would permit non-residential uses <br />within neighborhood. <br />C. SEQL seeks to modify the zoning within the commercial corridors on <br />Miami and Michigan Streets to encourage neighborhood retailing and <br />to eliminate undesirable adult entertainment uses. <br />Goal: Maintenance of strong commercial activity on Michigan and Miami <br />corridors. <br />Project: Implement business recruitment and retention program for <br />commercial areas surrounding neighborhood. <br />47 <br />
