Southeast Quality of Life <br />Strategic Neighborhood Action Plan <br />Elements to be Developed Immediately <br />`Anti -Prostitution and Drug Dealer Program <br />GOAL: BY keeping pressure on neighborhood based crime and those <br />benefitting from it, or responsible for controlling it ie police <br />rosecutors and the courtsystem reduce illegal activity. <br />PROJECT: Reduce the number of prostitutes and drug dealers living and <br />working in the neighborhood through informational picketing, <br />Publicity and tracking court cases. <br />ASSETS: . -SEQL Board <br />-Block watch captains <br />-Neighborhood organizer <br />-Nuisance ordinances <br />-Building codes <br />-$500 auto fine for solicitation of prostitution <br />-police <br />BARRIERS: -Organizing of workers/picketers <br />-Fear of reprisals <br />-Lack of police manpower <br />-Lack of block watch organizations <br />-Legal issues <br />ACTION STEPS: <br />1. Organize by blocks and block watches under the leadership of the SEQL <br />Board and assistance of the neighborhood organizer. <br />2. Prepare inventory of where prostitutes live and solicit and where drug <br />dealers live and deal; including drug houses. <br />3. Organize informational picketing of residences where prostitutes and drug <br />dealers live and work. <br />4. Informational picketing of homes of slum landlords who rent to prostitutes <br />and drug dealers. <br />100 <br />
