He indicated this bill adds a definition of retail to include uses within <br />Division G, Major Groups 52 through 59 of the SIC Manual. Council Member Voorde <br />made a motion to recommend this bill to the Council favorably, seconded by Council <br />Member Zakrzewski. Council Member Taylor made a motion to amend this <br />bill, as amended in the Committee of the Whole, seconded by Council Member Barcome. <br />The motion carried. The bill passed by a roll call vote of <br />nine ayes. <br />RESOLUTIONS <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1540 -87 RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO <br />THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT FOR THE <br />EMERGENCY SHELTER GRANT PROGRAM. <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend is concerned and interested in providing <br />assistance to its homeless residents and <br />WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States of America passed the Stewart B. <br />McKinney Homeless Assistance Act, which through its Department of Housing and Urban <br />Development has made funds available to cities to provide assistance to its homeless <br />residents and <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend has been notified by the Department of Housing <br />and Urban Development that $46,000 is available to fund emergency shelters if the <br />appropriate plans and applications are filed. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council City of South Bend, Indiana <br />as follows: <br />SECTION I. The Mayor of South Bend is hereby authorized through the Bureau of <br />Housing, Department of Economic Development to submit an application in the amount <br />of $46,000 to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development for the <br />Emergency Shelter Grant program. <br />SECTION II.
