0 <br />22. 1987 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend met in the <br />Council Chambers of the County -City Building on Monday, June 22, 1987, at 7:00 p.m. <br />The meeting was called to order and the Pledge to the Flag was given. <br />ROLL CALL Present: Council Members Serge, Braboy, Puzzello, <br />Taylor, Zakrzewski, Barcome, Paszek, Voorde <br />and Beck <br />Absent: None <br />REPORT FROM THE SUB - COMMITTEE ON MINUTES <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />The sub - committee has inspected the minutes of the June 8, 1987 meeting of the <br />Council and found them correct. <br />Therefore, we recommend the same be approved. <br />/s/ Beverlie J. Beck <br />/s/ Al Paszek <br />/s/ James T. Barcome Barcomem <br />Council Member Beck made a motion that the minutes of the June 8, 1987, meeting of <br />the Council be accepted and placed on file, seconded by Council Member Taylor. The <br />motion carried. <br />SPECIAL BUSINESS <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1519 -87 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA, COMMENDING THE POLISH NATIONAL ALLIANCE, <br />POST 83 ON ITS ONE HUNDREDTH (100TH) ANNIVERSARY. <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, recognizes with <br />pride that the Polish National Alliance, Post 83, is celebrating its One Hundredth <br />(100th) Anniversary this year; and <br />WHEREAS, the PNA has established a reputation of being of being a social and <br />service organization dedicating itself to many worthwhile social activities and <br />sponsoring several athletic activities throughout our community; and <br />WHEREAS, over eight hundred (800) adult members belong to the PNA Post 83, all <br />of which have some Polish extraction; and <br />WHEREAS, a special recognition dinner in honor of its 100th anniversary was held <br />on Saturday, June 20, 1987. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I. On behalf of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the <br />Common Council hereby publicly commends the Polish National Alliance, Post 83, on <br />reaching its One Hundredth (100th) Anniversary. <br />SECTION II. The Common Council wishes PNA Post 83 and all of its members <br />continued growth and prosperity as it begins another year of serving our community. <br />SECTION III. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after <br />its adoption by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor. <br />/s/ Joseph T. Council Member Zakrzewski <br />read the resolution and presented it to members of the PNA. Council Member Taylor <br />made a motion to adopt the resolution, seconded by Council Member Barcome. The <br />resolution was adopted by a roll call vote of nine ayes. <br />
