71 <br />REGULAR MEETING JULY 13. 1992 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend met in the <br />Council Chambers of the County -City Building on Monday, July 13, 1992, at 7:00 p.m. <br />The meeting was called to order and the Pledge to the Flag was given. <br />ROLL CALL Present: Council Members Luecke, Washington, Puzzello, <br />Slavinskas, Zakrzewski, Duda, Coleman and Ladewski <br />Absent: Council Member Kelly <br />REPORT FROM THE SUB- COMMITTEE ON MINUTES <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />The sub - committee has inspected the minutes of the June 22, 1992, meeting of the <br />Council and found them correct. <br />Therefore, we recommend the same be approved. <br />/s/ Stephen Luecke <br />/s /Loretta Duda <br />Council Member Coleman made a motion that the minutes of the June 22, meeting of the <br />Council be accepted and placed on file, seconded by Council Member Puzzello. The <br />motion carried. <br />Council Member Puzzello made a motion to hear resolution 92 -53 under special <br />business, seconded by Council Member Slavinskas. The motion carried. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1959 -92 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA, INVITING THE PUBLIC TO PARTICIPATE IN THE <br />WEST WASHINGTON NATIONAL HISTORIC DISTRICT AND COPSHAHOL <br />"AROUND THE BLOCK" AND "TEA OF TOUR" ACTIVITIES. <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council acknowledges that special summer activities designed <br />to "make the past come alive" are taking place in the West Washington National <br />Historic District and at Copshaholm; and <br />WHEREAS, the "Around the Block" activities began on June 17th and run every <br />Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. through August 12th - with all activities <br />free to children ages 8 to 12 years of age; and <br />WHEREAS, additionally every Thursday through August the "Tea and Tour" program <br />will continue with tours of the West Washington National Historic District and <br />Copshaholm, and tea at the Queen Ann Inn. <br />WHEREAS, the Council urges all residents and especially their children to <br />participate in these unique summer activities which will help foster pride, <br />understanding and appreciation, where children can become a vital link to this <br />important neighborhood, its revitalization, and its rebirth. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION I. The Common Council urges the public to participate in the "Around <br />the Block" and "Tea and Tour" activities taking place in the West Washington <br />National Historic District and at Copshaholm. <br />SECTION II. Children's upcoming activities include: <br />July 8: "Building Blocks: Stories that Buildings Tell" <br />July 15: "Croquet and Crumpets" <br />July 22: "Art and Architecture" <br />July 29: "Folk Art & Songs" <br />August 5: "Fun With Pioneer Children" <br />August 12: "Sketching the City Scope" <br />SECTION III. The Council believes that through the public's support of such <br />activities, that pride and respect for each other and this important neighborhood of <br />our City will continue to grow. <br />SECTION IV.
