`07 <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 10, 1991 <br />WHEREAS, Dr. Ecker is a "team player" who provides keen insights and thoughtful <br />suggestions to enhance the quality of excellence at Purdue University; and <br />WHEREAS, as a member of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Ecker has worked hard on the <br />Finance Committee, Regional Campus Committee, Construction Committee, Farm <br />Inspection Committee, as well as being a Purdue Council Fellow, Presidents Council <br />Member, and Dean's Club Member in promoting Purdue University. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA, as follows: <br />Section I. On behalf of all of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, <br />the Common Council recommends that Governor Bayh reappoint Dr. Carol Ecker to the <br />Board of Trustees at Purdue University. <br />Section II. The Common Council sincerely believes that Dr. Ecker provides a <br />strong voice for Northern Indiana residents, and that she has the leadership and <br />vision to further enhance the quality of- excellence at Purdue University. <br />Section III. Council Member Niezgodski <br />read the resolution. Butch Morgan, 1730 Brookmede, asked the Council to vote <br />favorably on this resolution. Council Member Coleman made a motion to adopt this <br />resolution, seconded by Council Member Luecke. The resolution was adopted by a roll <br />call vote of nine ayes. <br />Council Member Coleman made a motion to resolve into the Committee of the Whole, <br />seconded by Council Member Zakrzewski. The motion carried <br />COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend met in the <br />Committee of the Whole on June 10, 1991 at 7:30 p.m., with nine members present. <br />Chairman Duda presiding. <br />BILL NO. 30 -91 <br />A BILL OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />CONCERNING THE TRANSFER OF PROPERTY AT 1733 EAST NORTHSIDE <br />BOULEVARD FROM THE PARK DEPARTMENT /PARK BOARD TO THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND. <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above bill, proponents <br />and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. Council Member Coleman made a <br />motion to accept the substitute bill on file with the City Clerk, seconded by <br />Council Member Niezgodski. The motion carried. Council Member Coleman reported <br />that the Park Committee had met on this bill and recommended it to the Council <br />favorably. David Roos, Project Manager for the IUSB Army Reserve land transfer, <br />made the presentation for the bill. He indicated the City has been engaged in <br />discussions with the Army concerning the vacation of the Armory on Northside Blvd., <br />and relocation of the facility to property formerly known as the Maple Lane School. <br />He indicated this move will allow IUSB to expand their campus. Council Member <br />Soderberg made a motion to recommend this bill to the Council favorably, as amended, <br />seconded by Council Member Coleman. The motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 31 -91 A BILL APPROPRIATING $65,000.00 RECEIVED FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT <br />OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT'S EMERGENCY SHELTER GRANTS <br />PROGRAM. <br />Council Member Coleman made a motion to continue this bill until June 24, seconded <br />by Council Member Zakrzewski. The motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 32 -91 A BILL APPROPRIATING $50,000 FROM THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STATE <br />GRANT FUND FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING AN ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT <br />FUND. <br />
