<br />RESOLUTION NO. 1874 -91 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH
<br />BEND, INDIANA, COMMENDING LOLITA ANASTASIO, PRESIDENT OF
<br />ADIVA, INC.
<br />WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, acknowledges
<br />with pride that Lolita Anastasio, President of ADIVA, Inc. has recently been honored
<br />by several organizations for "her ability to provide nontraditional work for women ";
<br />and
<br />WHEREAS, Lolita Anastasio has proven that women are "very capable of performing
<br />excellent work at any level; and
<br />WHEREAS, acknowledges that "women are the largest untapped natural resource of
<br />the United States ", Lolita Anastasio is making an important impact in the world of
<br />business through her concrete /construction company; and
<br />WHEREAS, Lolita Anastasio and ADIVA, Inc. have been honored for their "business
<br />leadership and civic commitment in the community" by the South Bend /Mishawaka Area
<br />Chamber of Commerce; received the Appreciation Award from Hispanics in Politics; and
<br />recently received the "Ain't I A Woman" Award from the St. Joe Valley Now Chapter;
<br />and
<br />WHEREAS, some of Lolita Anastasio's memberships include: the Business
<br />Development Corporation, the Minority Business Development Council, United Way,
<br />Urban League, Greater Indianapolis Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the South Bend
<br />Chamber of Commerce, the Lincoln Way West Business Association, Disadvantaged
<br />Business Enterprise, Minority Business Enterprise, Women's Business Enterprise, and
<br />the Department of Transportation in Michigan, Illinois, and Indiana.
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
<br />INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS:
<br />SECTION I. On behalf of all of the residents of the City of South Bend,
<br />Indiana, the Common Council publicly commends Lolita Anastasio, President of ADIVA,
<br />Inc., for her many contributions to our community through her many talents and
<br />business endeavors.
<br />SECTION II. The Common Council believes that Lolita Anastasio is an
<br />enthusiastic and positive example of a
<br />person who dedicates herself to providing
<br />countless opportunities for others.
<br />SECTION III. The Council wishes Lolita Anastasio continual success, as she
<br />blazes new paths for career opportunities, and dreams which can become reality
<br />through dedication and hard work.
<br />SECTION IV. This Resolution shall
<br />be in full force and effect from and after
<br />its adoption by the Common Council and
<br />approval by the Mayor.

<br />A public hearing was held on the resolution at this time. Council Member Duda read
<br />the resolution. Lolita Anastasio thanked the Council for this commendation.
<br />Council Member Coleman made a motion to adopt this resolution, seconded by Council
<br />Member Ladewski. The resolution was adopted by a roll call vote of nine ayes.
<br />RESOLUTION NO. 1875 -91 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH
<br />BEND, INDIANA, RECOMMENDING THAT GOVERNOR BAYH REAPPOINT DR
<br />CAROL A. ECKER TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES AT PURDUE
<br />UNIVERSITY.
<br />WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, notes with
<br />extreme pride that Carol A. Ecker, DVM, is completing her first term on the Board of
<br />Trustees at Purdue University; and
<br />WHEREAS, during the past three (3) years on the Board of Trustees, Dr. Ecker has
<br />diligently invested her time especially on behalf of the "at risk" students, and the
<br />students who have a "C" average; she has promoted better communication between
<br />faculty and students; and has taken positive steps on behalf of Purdue University
<br />Projects; and
