EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION
The FK-5-1-12 is stored as a liquid in cylinder assemblies designed specifically for the application
and charged to a fill density of between 35 Ib/ft3 (561 kg/m3) and 70 Ib/ft3 (1121 kg/m3). To ensure
optimal performance, each cylinder is superpressurized with dry nitrogen to 500 psi (34.48 bar) at
70°F (21°C). An identification label is affixed to the cylinder body indicating the fill quantity of FK-
5-1-12, charging pressure, date of fill, and fill station. The Sv 500 Series supports three cylinder
capacities.
Fire suppression systems utilizing FK-5-1-12 are designed to be discharged within 10 seconds into
a room, area, or enclosure with the structural integrity to retain the agent. The FK-5-1-12 uniformly
mixes throughout the protect area achieving a minimum concentration level in accordance with NFPA
2001 and/or agency listings.
40lb
22949
22
10.0
43
19.5
36
16.3
80lb
22950
41
18.6
81
36.7
65
29.5
130lb
22951
66
29.9
131
59.4
77
35.0
The cylinder assembly is composed of a cylinder, dip tube, and cylinder valve.
Cylinder Valve --C.
Dip Tub(
Cylinder Bracket
Cylinder
Cylinder Valve: The automatic release of FK-5-1-12
is controlled by a forged brass, differential pressure
operated cylinder valve connected to the neck of the
cylinder. The valve assembly is shipped with an anti -
recoil safety plug installed in the discharge outlet and
chained to the cylinder valve.
Dip Tube: A threaded, rigid dip tube extends from the
cylinder neck down to its bottom.
Cylinder: The light walled, welded seam cylinder is
manufactured according to the requirements of the
U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) and
Transport Canada (TC) for compressed gas. Internal
neck threads allow connection of the cylinder valve.
The cylinder is designed for mounting in a vertical po-
sition only.
DS1258 Revised: 21-Dec-2023
