ORDINANCE NO. 6942 -81 <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $282,289.14 FROM <br />THE WATER WORKS GENERAL FUND FOR CONTRACTUAL <br />SERVICES BY CONVERSE /TEN -ECH AND APPROVING THE <br />AWARD OF CONTRACTS AND EXPENDITURES FOR SERVICES <br />BY CONVERSE /TEN -ECH <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: <br />Converse /Ten -Ech Environmental Consultants has provided <br />qualitative identification of contamination, hydrogeotechnical <br />survey of ground water, monitoring of ground water to determine <br />source and quantity of contaminants, design, and bidding of cor- <br />rective action program. Converse /Ten -Ech Environmental Consultants <br />will oversee the installation of the interceptor well system, <br />provide start up and monitoring of the interceptor wells, soil and <br />water sampling as needed, supervise removal of contaminated soil <br />and provide advisory services concerning the Olive Street well <br />field. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION I. The contracts between the Board of Works Commissioners <br />and Converse /Ten -Ech Environmental Consultants for contractual <br />services are approved. <br />SECTION II. 'The sum of $282,289.14 is hereby appropriated as <br />follows: <br />Agreement No. 1: Work to include qualitative identification <br />of contamination, hjydrogeotechnical survey of ground water, monitoring <br />of ground water to determine source and quality of contaminants, <br />design and bidding of corrective action program, $170,104.17. <br />Agreement No. 2. Work to oversee installation of the interceptor <br />well system, provide start up and monitoring of the interceptor <br />wells, soil and water sampling as needed, supervise the removal of <br />contaminated soil and provide advisory services, $112,184.97. <br />SECTION III. The Common Council ratifies and approves the <br />expenditures made to date for services performed by Converse /Ten- <br />Ech Environmental Consultants under the contracts. <br />SECTION IV.
