ORDINANCE NO. 7010 -81 AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AMENDING CHAPTER 1, SECTION 1 -4 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS COUNCILMANIC DISTRICTS. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT The Common Council of the City of South Bend recognizes that it is charged with the legal authority to redistrict every ten years. The Council has reviewed the latest population data from the U.S. Census Bureau completed in 1980. The Council further believes in the concept of "one man one vote" and has used this guideline along with preserving neigh- borhood boundaries in preparing new councilmanic districts. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: SECTION I. The Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, hereby deletes Section 1 -4 of Chapter 1 of the Municipal Code of the City of South Bend, Indiana, and amends it in its entirety as follows: Sec. 1 -4 Six Councilmanic Districts The City is hereby divided into six (6) Councilmanic Dis- tricts which shall be known as: First District, Second District, Third District, Fourth District, Fifth District, and Sixth Dis- trict. Such Districts are bounded as follows: (1) FIRST DISTRICT Beginning at a point on the South right of way line of the Indiana East -West Toll Road, said point being the intersection of the East line of the Northwest one - quarter of the Northwest one - quarter of Section 27, Township 38 North, Range 2 East, and said South right of way line of the Toll Road; Thence, Northerly along said East line to a point where this line intersects the North right of way line of the Indiana East -West Toll Road; Thence, Westerly along said north right of way line to a point where the North right of way line intersects the South section line of the Southwest one - quarter of the Southwest one - quarter of Section 22, Township 38 north, Range 2 East; Thence, East along said South section line to the Southeast corner of the Southwest one - quarter of the Southwest one - quarter of Section 22, Township 38 North, Range 2 East; Thence, Northerly along the East line of the Southwest one - quarter of the southwest one - quarter of Section 22, Township 38 North, Range 2 East, to a point where this line intersects the Southeasterly right of way line of Maple Road; Thence, Southwesterly along said South- easterly right of way line of Maple Road to a point where this right of way line meets the Northerly right of way line of Cleveland Road, also being the existing City limits line. Thence, Northwesterly and Westerly along the Northerly right of way line of the new Cleve- land Road to the point of intersection with the West right of way line of Mayflower Road; Thence, Northerly
