FY 2025-2029 Five-Year Consolidated Plan City of South Bend, IN <br /> • There is a need for after school programming and daycare for low-and moderate-income families. <br /> • Public safety is a common concern in South Bend. There are many residents living in the City that <br /> have expressed concern about the amount of crime in their neighborhoods. <br /> • There is a need for mental health care, particularly for individuals with addictions to drugs or <br /> alcohol. <br /> • Job training and other educational services are needed to further development of the workforce in <br /> South Bend and St. Joseph County. <br /> • Food insecurity and food deserts have increased in the region.There is a need to expand affordable <br /> food options <br /> How were these needs determined? <br /> These needs for public facilities were determined through: the resident surveys; agency needs surveys; <br /> interviews with County staff, City staff, City Council members, Department of Community Investment <br /> staff, and other City and County agencies; public hearing comments on needs; and the County's <br /> Comprehensive Plan. <br /> OMB Control No:2506-0117(exp.07/31/2025) 92 <br />
