Smoke detectors must be located, to the extent practicable, in a hallway <br /> adjacent to a bedroom. If the unit is occupied by hearing impaired persons, <br /> smoke detectors must have an alarm system designed for hearing-impaired <br /> persons in each bedroom occupied by a hearing-impaired person. <br /> o The public areas of all housing must be equipped with a sufficient number,but <br /> not less than one for each area, of battery-operated or hard-wired smoke <br /> detectors. Public areas include, but are not limited to, laundry rooms, <br /> community rooms,day care centers, hallways, stairwells,and other common <br /> areas.rThe Habitability Standards Form must be utilized to conduct inspections and be saved in <br /> the client file and/or grant file.A copy of the checklist can be found in the Appendices <br /> and at https://www.hudexchange.info/resource/3766/esg-minimum-habitability- <br /> standards-for-emergency-shelters-and-permanent-housing/ <br /> 3.8 — Ensuring Confidentiality <br /> A. The subrecipient must develop and implement written procedures to ensure: <br /> 1. All records containing personally identifying information (as defined in HUD's <br /> standards for participation,data collection,and reporting in a local HMIS)of any <br /> individual or family who applies for and/or receives ESG assistance will be kept <br /> secure and confidential; <br /> 2. The address or location of any domestic violence,dating violence,sexual assault, <br /> or stalking shelter project assisted under the ESG will not be made public,except <br /> with written authorization of the person responsible for the operation of the <br /> shelter; and <br /> 3. The address or location of any housing of a program participant will not be made <br /> public, except as provided under a preexisting privacy policy of the City or the <br /> subrecipient and consistent with State and local laws regarding privacy and <br /> obligations of confidentiality. <br /> B. The confidentiality procedures of the subrecipient must be in writing and must be <br /> maintained in accordance with this section. <br /> C. In addition, the subrecipient should keep written records or files pertaining to <br /> families secured and only allow authorized personnel access to these files. <br /> City of South Bend - ESG Policies and Procedures Manual 12 <br />
