material in accordance with INDOT Standard Specifications section 621. The contractor is <br />responsible for watering for thirty (30) days after placement of the seed. The cost of seeding and <br />watering will not be paid for separately but shall be included in the cost of the concrete sidewalk. <br />3. Removal of existing sidewalks, curb ramps and detectable warning surfaces shall include the <br />removal of all sidewalk, curb, curb ramps, detectable warning surface, grass, subgrade, and any <br />other materials within the areas designated for new sidewalk and curb ramps in the plans. This <br />removal shall be incidental to the cost of installation. <br />4. Removal of parking bumpers, if applicable, will not be paid directly but shall be included in the cost <br />of the concrete sidewalk. <br />5. Precise removal limits shall be coordinated with the City. The cost of hauling of materials offsite <br />shall not be paid for separately but included in the cost of Concrete Sidewalk and Curb Ramp <br />construction. <br />6. Concrete or other items outside the removal limits damaged by the Contractor or any <br />subcontractors during the removal process will be repaired or replaced to the satisfaction of the <br />Engineer at no additional cost. <br />7. Saw cuts required for removal shall not be paid for separately but included in the cost of the <br />Concrete Sidewalk installation. <br />8. Payment shall be made at the Unit Price as specified in the proposal as follows: <br />SIDEWALK. CONCRETE. 4 in. SYD <br />XXIV. PAVEMENT MARKINGS, SIGNAGE, AND CONCRETE BOLLARDS <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: 2022, INDOT Standard Specification Section 808 <br />City of South Bend Construction Standards and Specifications Section 6-5 <br />B. Additions <br />1. Work to be performed shall include furnishing all labor, services, materials, insurance and <br />equipment to apply pavement markings as shown in the plans. <br />2. The 4" green parking space markings shall be traffic paint and the EVSE pavement symbol shall <br />be thermoplastic as specified in section 6-5 of the City of South Bend's Construction Standards <br />and Specification. The EVSE Pavement Marking Symbol should be a 48" square. <br />3. Thermoplastic markings shall be applied in molten form by conventional extrusion when the <br />pavement and ambient air temperature are minimum of 50 degrees Fahrenheit and rising, or by <br />ribbon type extrusion or spray when the pavement and ambient air temperatures are a minimum <br />of 50 degrees Fahrenheit and rising. Heat bonded preformed thermoplastic may be used for <br />transverse or message markings. <br />4. The material shall be warranted to retain its color and adherence to the pavement for 180 days <br />from substantial completion. <br />5. All pavement markings shall be in accordance with the Indiana MUTCD. <br />6. Longitudinal and transverse pavement markings will be measured by the linear foot of each type, <br />color, and thickness properly installed. <br />7. Pavement markings will be paid at the contract unit price. <br />8. Signage to be provided by the City. Contractor to acquire posts and hardware for signage <br />installation. <br />9. Bollards shall be a 5' long, 5" diameter steel pipe. The bollard will have 3' exposed and 2' buried in <br />concrete, and the pipe will be filled with concrete. The bollard shall be painted to match the striping <br />color. <br />10. The conversion of the existing parking spaces to the electric vehicle parking spaces as <br />schematically designed in Attachment 1 will require some of the existing lines to be ground off. This <br />cost will be incidental to the cost of striping for each division. Where new lines coincide with old <br />lines, new lines may be placed on top of old lines. Removal of existing lines is not paid directly but <br />shall be incidental to the pavement striping line item. <br />11.
