PARENT, Mayor COUNTY -CITY BUILDING SOUTH BEND, INDIANA 46601 Department of Code Enforcement March 23, 1983 the City Council Building, 4th Floor IN Dear City Council Members: 219/284 -9486 219/284.9498 219/284.9325 The Department of Code Enforcement is requesting $30,000 in Federal Revenue Sharing Funds to supplement the budget for the 1983 Summer Clean up program. Personnel costs will be paid by CETA from the Summer Youth Program fund. Eighteen crew members and four supervisors will be hired. The CETA crews will be responsible for cleaning city owned lots and alleys. The Federal Revenue Sharing Funds will provide financial support for equipment repair, rental of vans to transport the crew members, gasoline for the vans and the purchase of equipment. The equipment will be purchased for use by the year round clean up crew. The equipment purchase will include $16,500 for a new tractor mower; $3,500 for a new mowing unit for one of the tractor mowers and $1,000 for miscellaneous supplies for the CETA crews. It is necessary to purchase a new tractor mower this year because the two mowing machines currently used by the Code Enforcement Clean up Crew are becoming increasingly undependable. One mower is 8 years old and the other mower is 6 years old. Last summer the two mowers were out of commission a total of 9 weeks due to equipment breakdowns. The new mower will replace the 8 year old mower and a new mowing unit will be purchased for the 6 year old tractor. Thank you for your consideration of this appropriation.
