SOUTH BEND PUBLIC UTILITIES
224 North Main Street
P.O. Box 1714
MICHAEL L. VANCE
Director of Utilities
Mrs. Beverlie Beek
President
Common Council
City of South Bend
Dear Mrs. Beck:
CITY ®f SOUTH BEND
ROGER O. PARENT, Mayor
COUNTY -CITY BUILDING SOUTH BEND, INDIANA 46601
March 9, 1983
219/284.9322
There will be presented at first reading of the March 14,
1983 Council Meeting an ordinance approving the contract between
the Board of Water Commissioners and Gates Chevy World for the
purchase of (3) three vehicles to replace existing equipment at a
cost of $19,556.19.
If you will recall the Council approved an ordiance of a
similar nature at a'.previous meeting this year. That ordinance in
fact was intended to replace the same three vehicles. At that
time the Board chose to award to Basney Ford based on previous
bids taken by the Board of Public Works. After the Council's
ratification of that contract, Basney Ford found that due to Ford's
stopping production of the Fairmont they cannot provide the vehicles
previously approved.
As a result, the Board of Water Commissioners advertised and
accepted bids on the same replacement units. I'm asking that the
Council now pass this ordinance approving the replacement contract
between the Board and Gates Chevy World for the replacement of
these units.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact my office.
Sincerely,
Michael L. Vance
Director of Utilities
MLV /mtw
