<br /> <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />STUDEBAKER NATIONAL MUSEUM <br />SKYLIGHT REPLACEMENT ROUGH CARPENTRY 06100-1 <br />SECTION 06100 – ROUGH CARPENTRY <br /> <br />A. Scope <br /> <br />1. Rough carpentry includes carpentry work not specified as part of other sections and which <br />is generally not exposed, except as otherwise indicated. Types of work in this section <br />include rough carpentry for: <br /> <br />a. Wood framing with dimension lumber. <br /> <br />b. Wood grounds, nailers, and blocking. <br /> <br />c. Temporary closures and protection. <br /> <br />2. Related Documents: The provisions of the General Conditions, Supplementary <br />Conditions, and the sections included under Division 1, General Requirements, are <br />included as a part of this section as though bound herein. <br /> <br />3. References: <br /> <br />a. Lumber Standard: Comply with PS-20 and with applicable rules of the respective <br />grading and inspecting agencies for species and products indicated. <br /> <br />4. Submittals: <br /> <br />a. Product Data: Submit manufacturer's specifications and installation instructions for <br />manufactured materials. <br /> <br />b. Material Certificates: Where dimensional lumber is provided to comply with <br />minimum allowable unit stresses, submit listing of species and grade selected for <br />each use, and submit evidence of compliance with specified requirements. <br />Compliance may be in form of a signed copy of applicable portion of lumber <br />producer's grading rules showing design values for selected species and grade. <br />Design values shall be as approved by the Board of Review of American Lumber <br />Standards Committee. <br /> <br />c. Wood Treatment Data: Submit treatment manufacturer's instructions for proper <br />use of each type of treated materials. <br />1) Pressure Treatment: For each type specified, include certification by <br />treating plant stating chemicals and process used, net amount of salts <br />retained, and conformance with applicable standards. <br />2) For Cromated Copper Arsenate (CCA) water borne preservatives include <br />statement that moisture content of treated materials was reduced to a <br />maximum of 19 percent prior to shipment to project site. <br /> <br />d. Warranty of chemical treatment manufacturer for each type of treatment. <br /> <br />5. Delivery, Storage, and Handling: <br /> <br />a. Delivery and Storage: Keep materials dry during delivery and storage. Protect <br />against exposure to weather and contact with damp or wet surfaces. Stack lumber <br />and plywood, and provide air circulation within stacks. <br />
