<br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />STUDEBAKER NATIONAL MUSEUM <br />SKYLIGHT REPLACEMENT SUBSTITUTION PROCEDURES 01250-4 <br />e) Specified product or method of construction cannot be provided in <br />a manner that is compatible with other materials and where <br />Contractor certifies substitution will overcome incompatibility. <br />f) Specified product or method of construction cannot be <br />coordinated with other materials, and Contractor certifies <br />proposed substitution can be coordinated <br />g) Specified product or method of construction cannot provide a <br />warranty required by the Contract Documents and Contractor <br />certifies proposed substitution provides required warranty. <br /> <br />b. Where proposed substitution involves more than 1 installer; installers shall <br />cooperate to coordinate the Work, provide uniformity and consistency and to <br />assure compatibility of products. <br /> <br />c. Submit a separate substitution request for each product, supported with complete <br />product data, drawings, and samples. <br />1) Comparison of qualities of proposed substitution with specified materials. <br /> <br />d. To determine if proposed substitution complies with the function, appearance, <br />quality, performance, and dimensional characteristics of specified item, Architect <br />may: <br />1) Require sample units, technical product data, and independent test reports <br />sufficient to establish compliance. <br />a) Cost of which shall be paid by the submitting party. <br /> <br />e. Substitution request not complying will be returned without action other than to <br />record noncompliance with submittal requirements. <br /> <br />8. Architect’s Evaluation Process: <br /> <br />a. Architect is sole judge of acceptability of proposed substitution. <br /> <br />b. Architect will review requests for substitutions with reasonable promptness and <br />respond as follows: <br />1) Request additional information or documentation necessary for <br />evaluation. <br />2) Pre-Quote: Notify Quoters of the decision to accept proposed substitution <br />3) by written addendum. <br />4) Post Award: Notify Contractor in writing of the decision to accept or reject <br />proposed substitution. <br /> <br />c. Accepted substitutions will be documented by Modification (Change Order), <br />including manufacturers’ names and catalog numbers. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />END OF SECTION 01250
