Parent and Mayor Joseph E. Kernan; has held
every elected officer position of the Council from Council
President and Vice - President to Chairperson of the Committee of
the Whole; has chaired the most powerful committees of the
Council; and has answered thousands of citizen calls and requests
over his thirteen years of service; and
Whereas, Council Member Zakrzewski a /k /a "Junk Yard Czar"
has faithfully inspected on an annual basis each of the recycling
centers wishing to operate in the City; fought hard to ensure the
rights and voices of the citizens of the West Side during the
debates on the Ethanol Plant; was instrumental in making
Coveleski Stadium a reality; challenged the City Administration
to focus on a paved alley program which would enhance the older
sections of our fine City; championed enforceable truck route
legislation, and supported the Belleville Softball Complex which
is scheduled to open in 1997 -- -with these just being some of the
many vital activities Tom Zakrzewski has dedicated his time and
efforts to in his 13 years of service.
Now, Therefore, Be it Ordained by the Common Council of the
City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows:
Section I.
