South Bend, IN 46601 Dear Council Member: May 17, 1983 1440 County -City Building South Bend, Indiana 46601 (219) 284 -9335 This ordinance submitted for your consideration would appropriate $20,500.00 for the Neighborhood Paint -Up Program. During the summer of 1982 we conducted our first paint -up program which was met with enthusiasm on the part of residents and neighborhood groups. The neighborhood paint -up program provides free paint and in some areas, exterior repairs to low and moderate income homeowners and in some areas to landlords where properties are rented to low and moderate income persons. The resident or the neighborhood group then recruits volunteer assistance if necessary for painting the structure. Last year sixty -one (61) structures were painted through the program providing for visual impact in the neighborhoods.
