REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 10 1997 <br />Section II. The Common <br />PERKINS brought to the South <br />dedicated spirit and sincere <br />before retiring from the Sou - <br />Detectives and his dedicated <br />Marshal's Office. <br />Council acknowledges that J. JEROME <br />Bend Board of Park Commissioners a <br />work ethic which he was known for <br />th Bend Police Department as Chief of <br />service in the United States <br />Section III. Thanks to the efforts of J. JEROME PERKINS, <br />and other members of the Board of Park Commissioners, the <br />Department of Parks and Recreation's mission of "providing to all <br />citizens and guests of South Bend the highest quality of <br />recreational leisure activities, while providing well managed <br />parks and recreational facilities with updated programming and <br />friendly service ", is a reality. <br />Section IV. The South Bend Common Council wishes J. JEROME <br />PERKINS and his family a future filled with continued success and <br />happiness, and again express our sincere thanks for his years of <br />dedication to the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br />Section V. Phil St. Clair, <br />Superintendent of Parks, indicated it has been a real pleasure to <br />work and serve with Jerry this past four years. Richard <br />Nussbaum, City Attorney, indicated Mr. Perkins has always been <br />generous with the time he gave to the community. He thanked him <br />for his record of public service. Mayor Luecke indicated he was <br />speaking on this resolution as well as the one for Gwen Stiver. <br />He indicated that they both were the type of individuals that are <br />committed to make South Bend a better place to live. The Council <br />thanked Mr. Perkins for his years of service to the community. <br />Council Member Varner made a motion to adopt this resolution by <br />acclamation, seconded by Council Member Hosinski. The motion <br />carried. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2437 -97 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />COMMENDING GWEN E. STIVER FOR HER <br />SEVENTEEN (17) YEARS OF DEDICATED <br />SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF PARK <br />COMMISSIONERS <br />Whereas, the South Bend Common Council is proud to <br />acknowledge that Gwen E. Stiver began her seventeen (17) years of <br />dedicated public service on the South Bend Board of Park <br />Commissioners in 1979; and <br />Whereas, the dedicated spirit of caring and giving to others <br />which Gwen E. Stiver is so well known for at the Sunnyside <br />Presbyterian Church and which she enthusiastically shared over <br />
