Department of Public Parks <br />Administration Building <br />St. Louis Boulevard at Wayne Street <br />South Bend, Indiana 46617 <br />PHONE: (219) 284 -9401 <br />March 28, 1984 <br />Members of the Common Council <br />County -City Building <br />227 West Jefferson Boulevard <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Dear Council Members: <br />The Department of Public Parks is requesting your approval of the <br />enclosed ordinance appropriating $76,812.50 which was received from <br />the United States Department of the Interior as a reimbursement from <br />funds spent from the $3.5 million dollar park bond issue. <br />The Park Department applied for the grant to help finance the con - <br />struction of the walkways and lighting under the west end of the <br />Jefferson Street bridge and the walkways and lighting in Howard Park. <br />The grant is a reimbursable grant which means the Park Department <br />must spend funds from the park bond issue before grant payments can <br />be made. <br />The walkways in Howard Park will connect with the walkway under the <br />east end of Jefferson Street bridge and connect with East Race Way <br />board walk. <br />Your approval of this ordinance will be appreciated. <br />Very truly yours, <br />DEPA$rTMENT OF P C PARKS <br />f' <br />f: <br />James R.
