AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING FUNDS RECEIVED <br />FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF IN- <br />TERIOR $76,812.50 TO THE PARK DISTRICT <br />BOND CONSTRUCTION FUND 50 IN THE AMOUNT OF <br />$76,812.50 <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: <br />The Board of Park Commissioners of the City of South Bend applied <br />for and received $76,812.50 grant from the United States Department <br />of the Interior (Land & Water Conservation Fund) to help finance the <br />construction of the walkways and lighting under the west end of the <br />Jefferson Street bridge and to construct walkways, lighting and seating <br />areas in Howard Park. The grant is a reimbursable grant and will re- <br />imburse the city from funds spent from the $3.5 million dollar park <br />bond issue. <br />Now, Therefore, Be It Ordained by the South Bend Common Council, <br />as follows: <br />Section I. $76,812.50 is appropriated from funds received <br />from the United States Department of the <br />Interior to the Park District Bond Construction <br />Fund 50. <br />Section II. The appropriation of funds set forth above is re- <br />quired for the proper and efficient operation and <br />function of the Department of Public Parks of <br />South Bend and an extraordinary emergency is <br />declared to exist concerning the foregoing appropri- <br />ation. <br />Section III.
