ORDINANCE N0. ?_3 j L/- $ q <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING FUNDS RECEIVED <br />FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR <br />$1,060,000.00 AND FUNDS RECEIVED FROM THE <br />UNITED STATES SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION <br />$34,697.00 TO THE PARK DISTRICT BOND CON- <br />STRUCTION FUND 50 IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,094,697. <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: <br />The Board of Park Commissioners of the City of South Bend applied <br />for and received $1,060,000.00 grant from the United States Department <br />of the Interior (Land & Water Conservation Fund) and $34,697.00 from <br />the United States Small Business Administration to help finance the <br />construction of the East Race Way which consist of grading, excavating, <br />landscaping and renovating the abandoned race way into a canoe /kayak <br />course, fish ladder, boat ramp, trails, benches, concrete channel, <br />lighting, bridges and a hydro - electrical generator. The grants are a <br />reimbursable grant and will .reimburse the city from funds spent from <br />the $3.5 million dollar park bond issue. <br />Now, Therefore, Be It Ordained by the South Bend Common Council, <br />as follows: <br />Section I. $1,094,697. is appropriated from funds received <br />from the United States Department of the Interior <br />and the United States Small Business Administration <br />to the Park District Bond Construction Fund 50. <br />Section II. The appropriation of funds set forth above is re- <br />quired for the proper and efficient operation and <br />function of the Department of Public Parks of <br />South Bend and an extraordinary emergency is <br />declared to exist concerning the foregoing appropri- <br />ation. <br />Section III.
