ORDINANCE N0. ?_3 j L/- $ q AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING FUNDS RECEIVED FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR $1,060,000.00 AND FUNDS RECEIVED FROM THE UNITED STATES SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION $34,697.00 TO THE PARK DISTRICT BOND CON- STRUCTION FUND 50 IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,094,697. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: The Board of Park Commissioners of the City of South Bend applied for and received $1,060,000.00 grant from the United States Department of the Interior (Land & Water Conservation Fund) and $34,697.00 from the United States Small Business Administration to help finance the construction of the East Race Way which consist of grading, excavating, landscaping and renovating the abandoned race way into a canoe /kayak course, fish ladder, boat ramp, trails, benches, concrete channel, lighting, bridges and a hydro - electrical generator. The grants are a reimbursable grant and will .reimburse the city from funds spent from the $3.5 million dollar park bond issue. Now, Therefore, Be It Ordained by the South Bend Common Council, as follows: Section I. $1,094,697. is appropriated from funds received from the United States Department of the Interior and the United States Small Business Administration to the Park District Bond Construction Fund 50. Section II. The appropriation of funds set forth above is re- quired for the proper and efficient operation and function of the Department of Public Parks of South Bend and an extraordinary emergency is declared to exist concerning the foregoing appropri- ation. Section III.
