01MrrANC E No. 7311 -85 y AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO, 7225 -83, COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE SALARY ORDINANCE FOR 1984, TO ADD MAXIMUM SALARIES FOR CERTAIN OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: To improve the provision of City services to the citizens of South Bend and to operate administrative functions of the City in a more efficient manner, certain reorganization of functions and responsibilities is necessary. To implement that reorganization, certain of several positions, not included in the 1984 Salary Ordinance, Ordinance No. 7225 -83, is required, as well as the establishment of maximum annual salaries for those positions. No additional funds will be required as a result of the reorganization. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The 1984 Salary Ordinance, Ordinance No. 7225 -83, is amended to include the following additional positions and maximum annual salaries for those positions: DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE - Computer Specialist - Director, Community Affairs MAYOR'S OFFICE - Administrative Assistant for Neighborhoods DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS BUREAU OF WATER MAXIMUM ANNUAL SALARY $ 25,000 $ 23,900 $ 27,500 - General Operations Superintendent $ 27,688 SECTION II. Payment of the above salaries to persons holding those positions shall be accomplished without increasing the overall City budget. SECTION III. The above maximum salaries may be paid to persons ho d -ing ose positions from and after April 1, 1984, with the total amount paid not to exceed the proportion of the year actually worked by that employee in that position.
