REGULAR MEETING APRIL 24, 2000 <br />FROM THE NORTH RIGHT -OF -WAY OF KELLER <br />STREET TO THE SOUTH RIGHT -OF -WAY OF <br />MARQUETTE BOULEVARD FOR A DISTANCE OF <br />622.6 FEET AND A WIDTH OF 14 FEET. PART <br />LOCATED IN THE VERNON HEIGHTS ADD., SOUTH <br />BEND, ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, INDIANA <br />Councilmember King reported that the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee met on this <br />bill and sends it to the Council with a unanimous favorable recommendation. <br />Mr. James A. Jasiewicz, Director of Buildings and Grounds, South Bend Community School <br />Corporation, 635 South Main Street, South Bend, Indiana, made the presentation on behalf of the <br />Petitioner, the South Bend Community School Corporation. <br />Mr. Jasiewicz informed the Council that the South Bend Community School Corporation is <br />requesting these vacations as they own property to the south, thirty (30) lots to the east of the area <br />and will soon be closing on the purchase of property to the west. The reason for the vacation is for <br />the expansion of the athletics facilities at LaSalle High School which will include a new soccer field <br />and track. <br />This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. <br />There being no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in opposition to this <br />bill, Councilmember Coleman made a motion for favorable recommendation to full Council <br />concerning this bill. Councilmember White seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of <br />eight (8) ayes. <br />RISE AND REPORT <br />Councilmember King made motion to rise and report to the full Council.
