Luecke <br />Councilmember Ujdak made the presentation for this Resolution. <br />Councilmember Ujdak indicated that it is again time to begin negotiations with the Firefighters on <br />a new contract. The Resolution presented today appoints a negotiating team for that purpose. <br />Councilmember Ujdak read from the Resolution the names of the individuals who will be serving <br />on this team. He also noted that the Board of Public Safety will also be adopting a similar <br />Resolution. <br />Councilmember Kirsits advised that he is employed by the South Bend Fire Department but is not <br />a member of the Local #362. Council Attorney Kathleen Cekanski- Farrand noted that a conflict of <br />interest does not exist in this case and Councilmember Kirsits may vote on this Resolution. <br />A Public Hearing was held on the Resolution at this time. <br />There being no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in opposition to this <br />Resolution, Councilmember Coleman made a motion to adopt this Resolution. Councilmember <br />White seconded the motion which carried and the Resolution was adopted by a roll call vote of eight <br />(8) ayes. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2867-00 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND APPROVING THE ISSUANCE <br />OF SCRAP METAL/JUNK DEALERS/RECYCLING <br />OPERATIONS AND TRANSFER STATION LICENSES <br />FOR THE CALENDAR YEAR 2000 <br />WHEREAS, eleven (11) scrap metal/junk dealers /recycling operations and transfer station <br />license renewal applications for the year 2000 were received by the City of South Bend's Board of <br />Public Works; and <br />WHEREAS, inspections of the applicants' property has been completed by the Department <br />of Code Enforcement and Fire Prevention Bureau as required by Chapter 4, Article 4, Section 4 -51 <br />of the Municipal Code; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Code Enforcement and the Fire Prevention Bureau have <br />found that such premises are fit and proper for the maintenance and operation of such businesses; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works adopted a Resolution at its meeting of April 4, 2000 <br />approving ten (10) of the license renewal applications and also adopted a separate Resolution on <br />April 4, 2000 approving the remaining one (1) license renewal application, which Resolutions must <br />be reviewed by the Common Council; and <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, pursuant to South Bend <br />Municipal Code Section 4 -51(f) desires to adopt a Resolution recommending the renewal of the <br />license applications heretofore approved by the Board of Public Works. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South <br />Bend, Indiana that the license renewal applications for the following scrap metal/junk <br />dealer /recycling operations and transfer station be approved for calendar year 2000: <br />
