REGULAR MEETING <br />JA14UARY 10.2000 <br />Mr. Feeney advised members of the Council that the Sharpe's own property on both sides of this <br />alley and are the owners of Aay's Rent -All Company. They are asking that the Council approve this <br />vacation as this is the first step in their plans for the improvement of the facility at the South Bend <br />Avenue location. They have also applied for a rezoning' for expansion of the facility which will <br />double their floor 'space. Mr. Feeney noted that the east/west alley will be left open. <br />This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. <br />There being no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in opposition to this <br />bill, Councilmember King made a motion for favorable recommendation to full Council concerning <br />this bill. Councilmember Coleman seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of eight (8) <br />ayes. <br />BILL NO. 112 -99 A BILL OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA APPROPRIATING $75,000.00 <br />FROM THE COVELESKI IMPROVEMENT FUND (FUND <br />NO. 401) <br />Councilmember Uj dak noted that due to the lack of a quorum at the Parks and Recreation Committee <br />meeting held this afternoon, this bill comes to the Council with no recommendation. <br />Ms. Betsy Harriman, Administrative Director, South Bend Parks and Recreation Department, 301 <br />South St. Louis Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, made the presentation for this bill. <br />Ms. Harriman noted that this bill will appropriate seventy -five thousand dollars ($75,000.00) from <br />the Coveleski Improvement Fund for improvements to the Coveleski Stadium. This appropriation <br />is being made from funds generated from stadium revenues. Some of the improvements proposed <br />for 2000 include exterior landscaping, sealing and striping of three (3) parking lots, interior and <br />exterior painting, refurbishing of the main lobby and suites and installation of additional outfield <br />light fixtures. <br />This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. <br />There being no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in opposition to this <br />bill-, Council President Pfeifer made a motion for favorable recommendation to full Council <br />concerning this bill.
