Work includes train control systems (signals, communications, and traction control) improvements from Belmont to Howard, construction of a new "fly -over" structure to carry the Brown Line over the Red and Purple lines just north of Belmont Avenue, as well as 0.3 miles of staged mainline track structure replacement beneath the new fly -over bridge, and reconstruction of 1.3 miles of new elevated track structure between Lawrence and Ardmore, as well as the complete reconstruction of the Lawrence, Argyle, Berwyn and Bryn Mawr Stations. The project will improve the safety and operations of the corridor and includes 40 new or replacement bridges, seven rehabilitation or preventative maintenance bridges, and replacement of approximately 168 lane miles of pavement.
