• South Bend Redevelopment Authority
Special Meeting - February 14, 1992
3. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.)
b. Authority approval requested for proposal from North
American Golf, Inc., related to the Airport Economic
Development Area.
Mrs. Kolata explained that, through Ralph Basile, we have
been responding to the companies who expressed interest
in the Airport Economic Development Area.
Simultaneously, we would like to enter into an agreement
with North American Golf to act as our agent for
architectural and engineering services in order to come
up with some basic information related to constructing a
golf course in the area. The types of services that
would be provided include: soil borings, a soils report,
identification and delineation of wetlands, a phase one
environmental audit of the site, boundary survey and
legal description of where the golf course would be
located, a topographic map of the area, well capacity for
watering a golf course, preparation of a preliminary
plat, and information and cost estimates for providing
utilities for a club house, etc. North American Golf has
represented that they will subcontract portions of the
• contract out to Cole Associates and Hurzdan Golf Course
Design. The estimated cost of this proposal is $88,500.
We would like the Authority to hire Northa American Golf
and authorize staff to negotiate the contract which we
would bring back to the authority for approval at a later
time.
Upon a motion by Mr. Fewell, seconded by Mr. Gammage and
unanimously carried, the Authority hired North American
Golf to act as our agent for artchitectural and
engineering services related to the Airport Economic
Development Area and authorized the staff to negotiate a
contract with North American Golf for those services.
c. Authority approval requested for proposal from Valley
Engineering Consultants, Inc., related to the Airport
Economic Development Area.
Mrs. Kolata noted that the Common Council has approved an
annexation ordinance annexing land in the Toll Road
Industrial Park. The annexation brings approximately 60
acres into the city limits. This proposal is for
surveying six parcels of land in that area in
anticipation of our purchasing that land from the
Industrial Foundation. Valley Engineering proposes to
perform that work for $1,500. They will also provide a
drawing and legal description for each of the parcels.
Valley Engineering was selected to do this work because
they had previously done work for the Industrial
-2-
