REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 12, 2002 <br />BILL NO. 60 -02 FIRST READING ON A BILL OF THE COMMON <br />COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />APPROPRIATING $25,000 WITHIN THE COUNTY <br />OPTION INCOME TAX FUND (FUND 404) FOR THE <br />PURPOSE OF PROVIDING ADDITIONAL FUNDING <br />FOR THE COMMERCIAL CORRIDOR PROGRAM <br />WITHIN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />This bill had first reading. Councilmember Pfeifer made a motion to refer this bill to the Personnel <br />and Finance Committee and set it for Public Hearing and Third Reading on August 26, 2002. <br />Councilmember Varner seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. <br />BILL NO. 61 -02 FIRST READING ON A BILL AMENDING THE ZONING <br />ORDINANCE FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT 505 <br />SOUTH LOGAN STREET IN THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA <br />This bill had first reading. Councilmember Coleman made a motion to refer this bill to the Area <br />Plan Commission. Councilmember Varner seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of <br />nine (9) ayes. <br />BILL NO. 62 -02 FIRST READING ON A BILL AMENDING THE ZONING <br />ORDINANCE FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT 103 <br />NORTH ST. LOUIS BLVD., 615 & 619 EAST <br />WASHINGTON STREET IN THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA <br />This bill had first reading. Councilmember Coleman made a motion to refer this bill to the Area <br />Plan Commission. Councilmember Varner seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of <br />nine (9) ayes. <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />There was no unfinished business to come before the Council at this time. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />There was no new business to come before the Council at this time. <br />PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR <br />REQUEST OF MR. JOHN SWANSON FOR COMMUNITY WIDE BASKETBALL <br />FACILITY <br />Mr. John Swanson, 1321 Washington Street, South Bend, Indiana, informed the Council that <br />he still has the same idea about building a community wide basketball center. He noted that <br />he talked to the Mayor's Assistant about his idea. He reiterated that he is talking about a <br />community wide facility because the interest in basketball is at an all time high. Mr. <br />Swanson informed the Council that he will continue to speak to the Council about this <br />facility until it is built because they will have to build one sooner or later. <br />VE <br />
