Each layer shall be thoroughly tamped under and around the <br />pipe, and when sufficient layers have been placed in this manner to cover the pipe, the tamping <br />shall proceed across the width of the trench. Hand, pneumatic, or mechanical tampers may be <br />used. The bedding material shall be moist, but not wet, and it shall not include any stones <br />larger than two (2) inches in any dimension. <br />•Bedding material and compaction shall conform to the requirements shown in Standard <br />Drawing 4-11. <br />4-3.8 TRENCH BACKFILL <br />Backfill shall be of select native material or B-Borrow free of debris, organic material, and large <br />stones. <br />Backfill placement and compaction shall conform to the requirements shown in Standard Drawing <br />4-11. <br />4-3.9 TRENCH RESURFACING <br />For resurfacing of Public Right-of-Way for laterals or sewer extensions shall include the <br />replacement of the full lane width and full depth of pavement <br />4-3.9 (a) TEMPORARY RESURFACING <br />Once the sanitary sewer trench has been backfilled, temporary resurfacing shall commence. <br />Temporary resurfacing shall include: <br />1.) Compacted aggregate No. 73, compacted aggregate No. 53, limestone conforming to INDOT <br />Standard Specifications Section 303. Crushed concrete and natural gravel are also acceptable. <br />2.) HMA base conforming to INDOT Standard Specifications Section 402. <br />3.) CMA base conforming to INDOT Standard Specifications Section 403. <br />4.) Temporary resurfacing treatment shall have a thickness equal to the adjacent surface treatment. <br />Temporary resurfacing treatment shall be installed flush with the adjacent surface treatment. <br />5.) The surface restoration shall be capped with CMA or HMA meeting the above noted <br />specifications until the permanent surface is applied. The temporary patch shall be maintained <br />by the Contractor until the permanent surface is applied. <br />4-3.9 (b)PERMANENT RESURFACING <br />Once the sanitary sewer system has been tested and accepted, temporary resurfacing s hall be <br />removed, and permanent resurfacing shall be installed per the respective City Standards and <br />Specifications.
