SECTION 4 – SANITARY <br />50 <br />printed with a repeating warning message and laminated to aluminum foil with a three and three- <br />quarter (3.75) mil clear film backing. The lettering shall be a minimum of one (1) inch. Color shall <br />be APWA green. The warning message shall include the words “Buried Force Main”. Tensile <br />strength of the detection tape shall be 15,000 psi. <br />4-2.9 (h) TRACER WIRE <br />All PVC and HDPE force main pipe shall be installed with two (2) copper tracer wires, Stranded <br />SS/45 MIL HDPE, 30 Volt, meeting the following requirements: <br />1.) Wire: <br />Material: Two (2) – No. 8 gauge Copper Wire <br />Rating: 30 Volts maximum. 1,700 lb. yield. <br />Thickness: 0.125-inch overall diameter <br />(Dimensionally equivalent to AWG8) <br />2.) Insulating Jacket: <br />Material: High Molecular Weight, High Density Polyethylene <br />(HMW-HDPE) to be repeated at a minimum interval of <br />every two (2) linear feet. <br />Thickness: 0.045-inch maximum (45 mil.) <br />Rating: 30 Volts maximum. <br />Label <br />(Minimum required): "Pipe Tracer Wire, Stranded SS/45 MIL HMW-HDPE, <br />30 Volt, HDD Direct Burial Use Only". <br />Color: Green <br />4-3 CONSTRUCTION METHODS <br />4-3.1 GENERAL <br />Schedule and coordinate work with the City Engineer’s Representative. A minimum of two (2) <br />working days (Monday – Friday) notice shall be provided prior to commencing construction. <br />All sewer system component installations are subject to inspection by the Project Representative <br />and civil authorities having jurisdiction. <br />4-3.2 SHUT DOWN OF EXISTING PIPES <br />4-3.2 (a) GENERAL <br />Provide for the flow of sewage around the manhole and section, or sections, of pipe designated for <br />sanitary pipe installation or replacement, sanitary manhole installation or replacement, CIPP <br />rehabilitation, manhole structural rehabilitation, and manhole non-structural lining. The bypass <br />shall be made by plugging the line at an existing upstream manhole and pumping the flow into a <br />downstream manhole. The pump and bypass lines shall be of adequate capacity and size to handle <br />the flow. Bypass pump and line sizing calculations shall be submitted to the City Engineer.
