This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption by
the Common Council and approval by the Mayor.
s/Karen L. White
Member of the Common Council
Councilmember Aranowski, Chairperson, Personnel & Finance Committee, reported that this
committee heard this Resolution this afternoon and sends it to the Council with a favorable
recommendation.
Mr. Gary Gilot, Representing the Board of Public Works, 13th Floor, County -City Building,
residing at 1904 Lilac Trails Court, South Bend, Indiana, made the presentation for this bill.
Mr. Gilot advised that the Board of Public Works had reviews of the scrap metal, junk dealers and
transfer station license applicants done by Code Enforcement and the Fire Department. They had
further reviews done by the water utility and the St. Joseph County Health Department for wellhead
protection issues. There are fourteen (14) applications for consideration at this time. All are
recommended favorably. One (1) of the applicants, because of the proximity to the south well field,
is operating under a compliance schedule to do certain containment features to protect the
groundwater and they are cooperating in that. The City Engineer also reviewed issues of
encroachment in the public right of way. Mr. Gilot noted that the Board of Public Works
recommends this Resolution favorably.
Council Attorney Kathleen Cekanski- Farrand offered a friendly amendment as follows:
C
r,
0
