<br /> WHEREAS, the Common Council proudly acknowledges all of the members of
<br /> this World Champion Team, namely:
<br /> Alex Dunfee, Catcher Katie Sullivan, Outfield
<br /> Angela Gillis, Pitcher/Shortstop Jaimee Works, Outfield
<br /> Maria Gillis, Pitcher/Outfield Meghan Yoder, Outfield
<br /> Nikki Gropp, 3rd Base Pete Gillis, Manager
<br /> Alexa Gropp, 3rd Base Jeff Jankowski, Coach
<br /> Erin Jankowski, 2"d Base Brent Yoder, Coach
<br /> Sam McCarty, 2"d Base Jim Reynolds, Scorekeeper
<br /> Kelsey Reynolds, Shortstop/Pitcher Mary Dunfee, Scorekeeper
<br /> Maggie Seitz, Outfield
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Common Council of the City
<br /> of South Bend, Indiana, as follows:
<br /> Section I. On behalf of all of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana,
<br /> the Common Council hereby publicly commends and congratulates the 2004 World
<br /> Champion East Side Little League Junior Girls Softball team for bringing honor to
<br /> themselves and to the City of South Bend.
<br /> Section II. The Common council proudly acknowledges that the 2004 World
<br /> Champion East side little League Junior Girls Softball team outscored their opponents
<br /> 251 runs to 16 runs in 22 games; and wished each of the team members continued
<br /> success and memorable opportunities.
<br /> Section III. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and and after
<br /> its adoption by the Council and approval by the Mayor.

<br /> Councilmember Ann Puzzello, 1247 E. LaSalle Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, made the
<br /> presentation for this Resolution by first offering her comments and then reading the
<br /> Resolution in its entirety and presenting it to each member of the team.
<br /> A Public Hearing was held on the Resolution at this time.
<br /> Fredrico Thon, Assistant to the Mayor, introduced Manager Pete Gillis to make a few
<br /> comments on these terrific girls.
<br /> Pete Gillis, Manager, no address given, stated that he would like to commend this group
<br /> on their behavior, hard work and dedication to this game. He indicated that these girls
<br /> gave up their summer to practice 3 1/2 to 41/a hours a day.
<br /> Councilmember Dieter congratulated the girls on this wonderful achievement. He further
<br /> noted to cherish the moment and say thank you to your parents, friends and everyone who
<br /> helped you along the way.
<br /> Councilmember Coleman made a motion to adopt this Resolution by acclamation.
<br /> Councilmember Varner seconded the motion which carried.
