RITSCHARD BROS., INC. <br />DRUG AND ALCOHOL POLICY <br />A. GENERAL PHILOSOPHY <br />The management of Ritschard Bros., Inc. ("Ritschard") is committed to <br />providing a work environment which ensures the well-being of all Ritschard employees, <br />protects Ritschard's and employees' property and prohibits any influences which might <br />have a detrimental effect upon the orderly, safe and efficient operation of the business. <br />Based upon these goals, Ritschard will require all potential employees to submit to pre- <br />employment drug screening as a part of the pre -employment evaluation and its employees <br />to report for work and perform their duties within the standards established. The intent <br />of this policy is to ensure that the individuals hired by Ritschard are free of the effects <br />of controlled substances and to intervene when an employee may be working in a <br />condition that may potentially harm himself/herself, fellow employees or other individuals <br />or property. <br />B. APPLICATION OF POLICY <br />1. This policy applies to all applicants and employees. <br />2. A separate alcohol and controlled substance testing policy has been <br />established for those employee -drivers who are covered under the rules and <br />regulations of the Department of Transportation (CDL Employees). (See <br />Appendix 1 attached to this policy.) <br />C . DEFINITIONS <br />Chemical Substances: (a) any illegal substance, including, but not limited <br />to, narcotics, hallucinogens, cocaine, marijuana, designer drugs; (b) any <br />controlled substance, including, but not limited to, amphetamines and <br />barbiturates, which are used either without being prescribed by a licensed <br />physician or in excess of the amount prescribed by a licensed physician; and <br />(c) any beverage containing alcohol. <br />2. Unfit Condition: Manifesting behavior which includes, but is not limited <br />to, the following: (a) drowsiness; (b) sleepiness or sleeping; (c) slurred <br />and/or incoherent speech; (d) unusually aggressive behavior; (e) unusually <br />depressive behavior; (f) unusual and rapid changes in mood; (g) <br />disorientation or inability to concentrate; (h) lack of coordination in walking <br />or -performing other tasks. <br />
